WHAT DOES APGA STAND FOR? - Brotherliness or Deceit?
WHAT DOES APGA STAND FOR? - Brotherliness or Deceit?
Growing up, one was taught that HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY. But as the political terrain has taught us: Honesty is for the downtrodden, the poor, the apolitical class.
The popular slogan of our great party: Onye aghana nwanne ya! Or, Be your brother's keeper! seems to be mere words, shared by the populace, never lived on by the leaders.
We are also taught that *the end in view, is the cause of the starting points. Not that the end justifies the means, as we Igbos say that *agu ada eli agu.
What happened to our morals? Must a politician be a liar, a dishonest and dubious human being? We have seen men & women of integrity in politics, why loose the track now?
The recent screening of all the governorship aspirants by APGA leaves much to be desired. Why drop the popular candidates and smear them with liabilities that make them non-commited? Why not create a level playing ground and watch the people's candidate emerge?
Are leaders meant to be imposed? The Latin adage that vox populi, vox Dei- that the voice of the people is the voice of God, can never be wished away.
My humble thoughts.
Philip Chukwunweike Balepo.
